Choose life. (Deuteronomy 30:19)

They tell us that the human race's life-expectancy is going up.

So, does that mean that we're aging more slowly?

In other words, are we remaining younger for longer?

If we are, does that mean that people used to age more quickly than today, and looked older, at a younger age?

Does a 60-year-old man today look roughly the same as a 30-year-old man used to look?

It's Easter, and I'm wondering how old Jesus looked when he died. He's supposed to have been 30-ish, so in the movies he's always played by an actor who's 30-ish today.

But might he actually have looked, to us, maybe 60-ish?

If so, I don't think it would make sense for God to resurrect his body into the same aged weakened state.

Surely for life eternal, God would restore Jesus' decayed body to the prime of health and youth?

But then, upon his resurrection, rejuvenated Jesus might not be immediately recognisable, not even to his friends…

At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

"Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."

Jesus said to her, "Mary."

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).

- John 20:14-16 (NIV)

As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him.

- Luke 24:15-16 (NIV)

Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

- Luke 24:35 (NIV)

So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!"

But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it."

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"

Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

- John 20:25-27 (NIV)

Restoring to full health surely means turning back the whole of the deterioration process, no matter how many years it has been going on for.
