Rather charming screwball comedy from 1942 about a man who... guess.

It’s a bit laborious getting going, (and impossible to root for Wooley finishing up with either girl initially) and has plot-holes you can fairly predict before they’ve even happened. (controlling the electorate’s free will so effectively would have come in very handy earlier on) However once they’ve both fallen for each other, the whole thing just sweeps you along. The presence of the wedding orchestra, constantly launching into a love song every time Wooley enters the room, injects his disastrous wedding with some real comic energy.

Pass me that Bewitched DVD...
